Explore the Backcountry on Snowshoes
Explore the backcountry on showshoes--all you need is a sense of adventure, we provide the rest! Our experienced guides will take you into the scenic San Juan National Forest, where you can enjoy winter's beauty in areas you would never see any other way.
People of all ages and abilities can enjoy snowshoeing because there's no learning involved, you go at your own pace, and you can do it under a variety of terrain and snow conditions. We provide snowshoes & poles, a guide, lunch, and water. You will need sturdy, warm boots, heavy socks, ski-type clothing, hat & gloves--and gaiters are recommended. You will need to dress in layers since the weather can change quickly. We also suggest a fanny pack or small day pack with extra water, sunscreen, and of course a camera!
Reservations are required, and must be made by 4pm on the day prior to the tour. Please call toll-free number below for reservations.
Moonlight Snowshoe Tours
Meet at the Guest Services Kiosk at 3:30 and take the last chair of the day up the mountain. Watch the sun set and the moon rise, enjoy a wine and cheese party at the Powderhouse then hike down with your guide. (2006-2007 Dates offered- Jan 5th, Feb 2nd and 3rd and March 2nd and 3rd.)
You can also rent snowshoes from Performance Peak and, or Guest Services, and explore on your own.
